Oakridge homestead chronicles our experience as owner-builders and our transition to farm life. As the build slows down and we move into the house we will transition the blog to chronicling our attempts at slow food, farm to table, raising chickens, gardening and preserving our harvests. There will also be an occasional post about local events or trips we take with the extended family. Please feel free to comment and check back often! :)

Our Story

K and I met at UC Irvine in 1997 during our Junior years. We were both transfers from other schools. We started dating as soon as school started and have been married since 2001. We are both educators. I teach high school chemistry and K was a 1st grade teacher until we started having children. She now stays home with them. We are a home school family through Sky Mountain Charter school.

In 2007 our first child (C) was born. Our four children C, N, A, and E will be the focus of many of our postings during and after the house is built. ;)

Our hope is that we are good stewards of what we have been given and can teach our children to do the same. We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks for visiting the Oakridge Homestead!
